Setup, local configuration and remote maintenance.
CHAPTER 01Discover RescueLAN
RescueLAN provides remote access to equipment on a local network for maintenance and control. Its independent 4G LTE connection works without relying on the site’s Internet access.
Use RescueLAN Cloud at app.rescuelan.com to manage devices, open sessions and reach detected equipment. Use the local Web interface at 192.168.1.2 to configure the device.
CHAPTER 02Connections and LEDs
| Item | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Antenna connector | Mobile-network antenna. |
| LAN 1 / LAN 2 | Two Gigabit Ethernet ports. |
| POWER | 9–28 V DC power input. Observe the marked polarity. |
| RELAY — C / NO / NC | Relay common, normally open and normally closed contacts. |
| RESET | Restart or local reset, depending on press duration. |
POWER means the device is powered; STATUS means it has booted; LTE means the modem is registered on the mobile network; LINK means RescueLAN is connected to the cloud.
CHAPTER 03Create the account and register the device
- Open app.rescuelan.com and create an account.
- Use a password with at least eight characters, including upper- and lowercase letters, a number and a special character.
- Accept the terms and privacy policy, then activate the account from the email received.
- Open Administration → RescueLAN, select Add a RescueLAN and enter the device ID in the format RLN-XXXXXXXX.
You can then rename the device, assign it to a group and add or replace its image.
CHAPTER 04Connect and open the local interface
- Connect the GSM antenna before powering the unit.
- Connect your computer to a LAN port and power RescueLAN with 9–28 V DC.
- Temporarily configure the computer as 192.168.1.10 with mask 255.255.255.0, leaving gateway and DNS empty.
- Open http://192.168.1.2.
On first access, create a local Web password of at least 12 characters with upper- and lowercase letters, a number and a special character. This password is separate from your cloud password.
CHAPTER 05Configure the site network
In Network, choose DHCP or a fixed address. For a fixed address, enter an unused address, the subnet mask and, when required, the gateway and DNS servers. Separate multiple DNS addresses with commas.
After configuration, connect RescueLAN to the site network and restore the computer’s usual network settings.
CHAPTER 06Choose cloud availability
The local Connection page can maintain a permanent cloud session or enable a daily availability window. A permanent connection may consume a significant share of the available credit; use a schedule when possible.
On-demand connections remain possible when both options are disabled and outside the scheduled window. Check the time zone before relying on a schedule.
CHAPTER 07Set the time and secure access
Under Date and time, verify local time, select the site time zone and configure the NTP server. Enable time service for the LAN only when needed.
Keep password protection enabled under Security → Access. To change the local password, enter the current password and a compliant new 12-character password.
CHAPTER 08Test commissioning from the cloud
- Check the POWER, STATUS and LTE LEDs.
- Sign in to the cloud and open the device under Sites.
- Select Connect and wait for Connected and the LINK LED.
- Check the network inventory, ping a known device and test HTTP access when available.
- Select Disconnect when finished.
CHAPTER 09Use the network inventory
The inventory is refreshed automatically on every cloud connection. During a session, Scan the network starts another scan. Search by IP address or name and filter by All, Online or Offline.
The displayed status is the result of the latest scan, not continuous monitoring.
CHAPTER 10Access equipment
From a detected device, use Ping for diagnostics, HTTP/HTTPS for Web interfaces, or SSH, RDP, VNC and custom TCP/UDP ports through RescueLAN Remote. Confirm the destination IP and port before opening access.
Close unused browser tabs and Remote tunnels at the end of the intervention to avoid unnecessary credit usage.
CHAPTER 11Review history
The history shows cloud connections and remote-access activity. Use it to identify who opened a session, its date and duration, and to support troubleshooting and usage review.
CHAPTER 12Organise groups and users
Administrators can create groups, assign RescueLAN devices, invite users and grant access according to their responsibilities. Apply the least-privilege principle and remove access that is no longer required.
CHAPTER 13Understand Data Credit usage
Data Credits cover mobile connectivity, cloud infrastructure and remote sessions. Usage depends on connection time and exchanged data. The device page shows the remaining balance and expiry date.
Avoid permanent connections and large transfers unless necessary, and disconnect after each intervention.
CHAPTER 14Control the relay
The relay can remotely control a compatible low-voltage circuit. Check the wiring and load before issuing a command and verify the resulting equipment state.
CHAPTER 15Update and reset
Install only RescueLAN firmware and keep power connected during an update. A short RESET press restarts the device without changing its configuration.
Holding RESET for 10 seconds restores local network defaults, disables DHCP/NTP and cloud schedules, removes the local Web password and restarts. Device identity and cloud-account association are retained.
CHAPTER 16Troubleshooting
| Issue | Checks |
|---|---|
| Local interface unavailable | Power, Ethernet cable, device IP and computer subnet. |
| LTE off | Antenna and signal information; try another location. |
| LTE on, LINK off | Requested cloud connection or active schedule. |
| Equipment missing | Power, wiring, addressing and a new network scan. |
| Remote does not open | Install RescueLAN Remote and allow the browser to launch it. |
For help, email support@rescuelan.com with the device ID, problem and LED states. Never send passwords.
