Equipment that is rarely accessed

Some installations can run for months without requiring remote maintenance: small machines, boiler rooms, photovoltaic installations, building automation systems and equipment spread across several sites. The need for remote access is real, but irregular.

For these installations, the main value is having remote access available when a problem occurs.

When a subscription remains relevant

A subscription is not inherently a drawback. It often funds a platform, cloud services, monitoring, storage or continuously available connectivity. If these services are used every day, a recurring subscription makes sense.

The question is therefore whether these features are genuinely used throughout the year, or whether the main requirement is simply to have remote access available when needed.

Looking at the cost per maintenance session

A single avoided site visit may represent several hours of travel. Conversely, multiplying subscriptions across a rarely used fleet can create a significant fixed cost. A useful comparison is between the fleet’s total annual cost with the number of interventions actually performed and their operational value.

The RescueLAN model

RescueLAN is built around a gateway with no monthly subscription and Data Credits consumed during use. The idea is to equip a site for the long term without paying every month simply because the hardware is present.

This model is particularly suitable for occasional maintenance. For permanent remote monitoring or continuous data volumes, another architecture may be more appropriate.
